Which project you did ?

Design, build, and test an elastic powered boat.

I have decided to build an elastic powered boat this week.

How should it look like? how should it work? and what do I need to build it? - these were the first questions I asked myself.

I had an idea in my head and put it on paper/ I made a sketch of how it should look like.

Then I looked for an empty bottle, two sticks, 3 rubber bands and something that could work as a motor.

I followed my sketch and built everything together

What you learned by doing it ?

I have learned that the "motor" needs a larger surface area to grip the water properly. That it should have a small hollow and that it should not be too light, but the hollow must not be too deep, otherwise it cannot move because it is too heavy. It has to push the water away to get the boat moving.

What went well ?

Because I didn't need so many things to build it together, it worked really fast and really good.

What didn’t go so well ?

At first the motor did not work as I wanted it to. I had used something different for the engine at first, but I learned from this and used something different for the motor instead.

Include photos or videos if possible.

Here I wanted to show how my motor works, but you can't see it very well, because it goes much too fast.

Here for example, the hollow was too deep and too much water collected in it, so it became too heavy.

I tried making the hollow smaller, it worked a little bit. But it was still too heavy and very slow.

This trial/ motor did not work either.
