Design and create something for your backyard or garden out of found wood.
This week I have decided to build something for our garden out of found wood. I didn't really have an idea what I wanted to build at first, so I looked for inspiration at the internet, but I hadn't found anything that I could build. Then it occurred to me that I can also make a decoration for the garden and I got the idea to make a mobile out of wood. I had seen something like that in a friend's garden a few years ago. First I made a sketch and then I went looking for good sticks. That day we drove to a beach, so I could collect some shells to use them. I think with the shells it looks a little bit nicer, even if it is not wood, but I found them too :)
It is already hanging in our garden and it looks really nice. I love it when the wind blows through.
Anyone can do it! all you need are stick and a string.
What you learned by doing it ?
You have to think carefully about what you want to build, if it will work, if you have everything for it and how you want to build it. Because originally I had a different idea, but it didn't work at all, even when I just thought about it, because I didn't have the materials there.
Besides that I learned over the time that I really enjoy such creative things.
What went well ?
I really quickly found good sticks that i could use. And when I had the idea, I knew directly how it should look like and how I could do what best. I had a pretty clear idea and I managed very well to make it look like that in the end.
What didn’t go so well ?
Sometimes it was difficult to knot the sticks correctly to the string and that they are balanced. When I knotted the first stick I needed a long time and I had difficulties, but with time it went really good and fast.
